ISIS has wide range of components in its library. It has
sources, signal generators, measurement and analysis tools like oscilloscope, voltmeter, ammeter
etc., probes for real time monitoring of the parameters of the circuit, switches, displays, loads like motors
and lamps, discrete components like resistors, capacitors, inductors,
transformers, digital and analog Integrated circuits, semi-conductor switches,
relays, microcontrollers, processors, sensors etc.
Performance in the Proteus software is generally scaleable according to your machine specification. However, the following might be considered the minimum requirements (correct as of Autumn 2017).
2GHz or faster Intel processor (AMD processors fine but less optimized). Graphics card supporting OpenGL Version 2.0 or higher and/or Direct 3D and multi-sampling (MSAA). 3GB RAM (recommended 8GB). Microsoft Windows 7 or later (recommended Microsoft Windows 10 64 bit).
Basic Circuit Schematic and Simulation
After Installation, the Proteus icon is available as a shortcut at the desktop screen. In Proteus 8 version, you cannot directly open by clicking doubly with mouse. First we should right click on the shortcut icon. And then click on 'Run as Administrator'.
Then we will see the page as shown in figure below
We can also go on new project page by clicking on file and then on new project as shown below
We should take care while renaming the new project:
1. No space should be provided in the name of project.
For Example:
Right Names: neem_edu_hub.pdsprj or neemeduhub.pdsprj √
Wrong names: neem edu hub.pdsprj or neem hubedu.pdsprj ×
2. Name should not match any header file, or code or any function in the Proteus.
For Example
Wrong Name: Torch Type LDR.pdsprj or resistors.pdsprj ×
After this step please click on NEXT
Then select schematic and then click on NEXT because without circuit connection simulation is not possible.
Since we are going to design PCB layout, so select 'Don't Design PCB lay out' and click on NEXT
After all NEXT finally click on FINISH button which appears at last step of NEW PROJECT page.
Then we will see a New Project page like shown below.
On this screen shown above, first make a right click and go on Place. As we reach with our cursor on Place button, we see a list of segments like Components, Terminals, Generators, Virtual Instruments, etc.
We can find virtual instruments for real run time in the simulation circuit from two places in Proteus as shown below
In virtual Instrument segment, we can select Oscilloscopes, AC or DC Ammeters, AC or DC Voltmeters, Wattmeter, etc for measuring output characteristics of the circuit designed.
Then we will learn to select generating devices. This can also be done in two ways as shown below.
In Generators segment, we can select, DC supply, Sin Wave generator, Pulses generation, etc.
Then we will move towards Terminal segment where we can select input terminals, output terminals, and (very important) Ground terminal as shown below
For selecting components and ICs, We will move as Right Click → Place → Component → Library
Same operation will be performed if we follow sequence of arrows in left side as shown below
Then will see a window as shown below: This Library window contains the information of components and IC. These components are grouped and separated by some Categories. You can select particular category for a particular IC or component.
For Example: In the figure shown below, We have selected Analog IC category for the selection of component IC 7805. This is a voltage regulator IC of 5 Volts.
The Main categories are:
Analog ICs
Arduino
Inductors,
Capacitors,
Resistors
Digital ICs
Data Converters
Switches and Relays
Transistors, etc. (As shown below)
We can directly type the IC name or IC number of data sheet in Keywords section to find that.
We can change the component position or description by clicking right on it.
Once the component is selected, it appears always before above the Library. We can select many times that component as required.
We can find multi-celled Battery in category ' Miscellaneous'. As shown Below.
We can set proper values of the components by clicking on it doubly (Double Click)
This is all about the Introduction of Proteus 8.
